Scott Reno - Head Pro
Head Golf Professional Scott Reno brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Sea Ranch Golf Links through his 20 plus years in the industry. However, his abilities as a Teaching Professional truly set him apart.
While developing his skills over the last nearly quarter century, he has worked with, and honed his craft with, such notables as Hank Haney and Byron Nelson.
Each student is different and each student brings their own set of skills and abilities to the game of golf. Consequently, each student must be recognized as an individual and taught accordingly. No cookie cutter golf here. While there are some basics that all golfers can benefit from, there is no one right way to play golf. There may be better ways to play, but no one right way. And since the true objective of golf is to get the ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible, does each person have to do that in the same way? No.
Golf lesson rates are very reasonable as well. An hour lesson is $60, but not all lessons need to take an hour and discounted rates are available for packages of 3 or more lessons. Group rates are also available for 4 or more.

PRO TIP OF THE MONTH
Three months into the recovery phase of my back surgery and all seems to be going well. While I still occasionally feel some twinges of pain from the actual surgery, I do not feel any of the old reminders of my back injury. And for that I am truly grateful. I am finding that I have to really focus on almost every movement I make now so that I don’t do something stupid like, say, move as a normal person would. I was helping a golfer at the pro shop counter one afternoon not too long ago and, after picking up a basket of range balls, I turned to hand him the basket and felt a strong twinge at the surgery site. Not surgery pain mind you, but something else. Something not beneficial. And that something else, (big twinge), was a definite reminder that I am nowhere near healed yet. So, after resting it for an extra day or so I was back to par. (Golf pun and body pun intended).
In fact, my wife reminded me during the holidays that because the pain meds my surgeon prescribed for me did such a good job of making me feel better, they probably were allowing me to do way too many things that weren’t good for my recovery. Or my driving skills! So along that line I reduced the number of pain pills I took to only 12 per day……………NO just kidding! Once every 3-4 days I may need to just knock an edge off a little, but in the big picture I’m pretty much done with them. And by staying away from the “better living through chemistry” program I am much better able to monitor if I am doing something stupid with regard to my back.
With regard to golf however, I am still several months away from swinging a golf club and I have to be OK with that. And I am. When I made the decision to have back surgery I had to acknowledge the possibility of not ever playing again. But my mindset was, and is, to be playing again by the end of this year. That is my focus. The ‘not ever playing again’ thought does not enter my mind. I mentioned it here only for clarification of the article and the possibility of a Pulitzer Prize.
Beginning next month, I will start to dwell less on my recovery and get back to talking more golf stuff. But for now, remember: Golf isn’t our whole life. It’s much more important than that. Seriously though, have fun. Isn’t golf hard enough to begin with? If it’s not fun, why do it! Enjoy every moment of every day. And not just on the golf course either! Enjoy every moment of every day everywhere. Your heart and your significant other will thank you for it.
